Artist Otto is a freelance Illustrator, Screen-printer and Book Artist whose work is strongly influenced by the Russian Constructivist school and Polish poster which are characterised by photo montage, type and bold, printed design components as well as the Renaissance and Baroque painting and sculpture which shows in the way he represents human shapes.
His illustrations are not literal representations of the subject but a surreal, magical take in his very own style and conception. The use of many layers of colour in his illustrations is another of the characteristics of his screen-printed books.
Otto graduated from Bristol Polytechnic in 1991 with an Graphic Design degree and has worked as Editorial Illustrator for The Gardian, The Economist, Liberation Le Monde, The New York Times Der Freitag and various other international newspapers and magazines and has produced work for clients in Design, Advertising and book publishing.
Otto also has an MA in Illustration from Kingston University. After this course, he went into creating and publishing screen-printed books.
Otto's work has been shown at important Artists Book Fair in the UK, America and Europe.
He also runs print-making workshops in Bath.
