so, after zuko got his scar he ended up moving in w either iroh of jeong jeong and that's when he came out and started transitioning bc he was in a safer and more accepting home environment
i personally wanted to avoid the whole 'tortured trans person' trope so no one really cared?? by the time they all hit year 12 barely anyone even remembered his deadname, everyone was just kinda like "oh your names zuko now? chill, are gonna be using the boys change rooms or should we break into the disabled toilet for you?" (that's an option schools give trans students, so they can get changed/go to the toilet without it being a struggle)
any transphobic students kept their mouth shut, because zuko was not above hitting them
and transphobic teachers would often give up fairly quickly bc basically his whole class would be like:
teacher: "she-"
students: "HE"

teacher: [deadname]
students: "woah who the fuck is that when did we get a new student?"
and the when he got his name and gender changed in the system it made it even harder for them to be dicks without obviously being dicks and getting fired
