TBH it went on a little long but when I saw Adelaide Kane as Drizella I was all over that! That's basically what I remember from the last season.
Favorite arc? Neverland!
Favorite villain!!! ^^^
Thoughts? About anything OUAT? And Levi in Storybrook?!
What you love? Didn't love? Let's talk!!
I'm going to go on a full on scream fest below the cut my friends.
I'll be frank, I didn't get to watch the last season. Which I'm planning to rectify. (When it was coming out my Grandma was still alive and it scared her so I didn't get to watch it... and then we got rid of cable..>.>; )
HOWEVER, I really really really love Once Upon a Time! My Favorite Villain is
When this arc was coming out I lived in the apartment and I talked about Peter Pan so much my roommate hung a Peter Pan picture on my door (right next to Jack Frost....>.>.... :) ). X3
I LOVE CaptainSwan! I think the only pairing with Emma I would have liked just as much was Pinocchio, if they'd left him as an adult. TT.TT
Jefferson was my favorite character right next to Hook but Jefferson would have definitely reigned at the top if he'd been in more. (I miss Jefferson so much.)
Neverland was my favorite arc too!!! I wish it had gone on just a little longer than it had, though I know I heard several people saying that they didn't enjoy Neverland. Which I never understood. Because it's amazing.
I LOVE LOVE how sweet Snow and Prince Charming are. And just so many other elements of the show. Mr. Gold is a fun character too and I could just go on an on about how much I love Regina... don't get me started. LOL
NOW THEN for Levi. I DID put him in Storybrook but I honestly don't ever replace existing characters I work around them and incorporate the characters I want to introduce into the story so they can all exist in the same space, and that's always been fun for me.
Now when I did it I was rping with a friend and (to make a very long story much shorter) he is canon (sort of adjacent) Levi who winds up getting sucked into the curse by accident since he was in the area and other not complicated things but it'll take me a long time to describe. I can dm you about it if you want to hear me rant and rave. I applied his Ackerman blood to the situation so he was still himself and very confused as to why he was carrying an ID around that wasn't his name and "married" to a person he didn't know.
Anywho if I were to do it again I'd have to say I might make him either own a cafe or possibly an accountant. What would you have him do?
I have so much fun with these!
I can honestly see it. If he owns a cafe it's not just a tea shop so it's not exactly what he wanted but also kind of is? He'd probably be fairly happy with that one actually, while if he were an accountant I could see him making decent money but I can't see him enjoying it at all.
if you don't mind me stepping in, i remember when ouat and revenge used to air on sundays together and that truly made it Unhinged Experience Day, so for the full challenge, you could rewatch them together
i've literally gasped... that is too much power. far too much power.
what makes a fairy tale a fairy tale tho? bc sometimes it’s like. ouat just nosedived into ‘all disney stories are fairytales’, and then also. all books are fairy tales?
and. it’s like? strictly speaking, alice in wonderland? not a fairy tale. peter pan? not a fairy tale? they are books (tho initially a stage play for peter pan, iirc). they’re not stories passed down by word of mouth, with variations therein.
just going by season one, that is. and then s2-3, it’s like.
oh, let’s get frankenstein. let’s get mulan, and wizard of oz. frankenstein, wizard of oz, both of those are books. mulan? well, disney did a version, sure, but originally, it’s... a folk hero? which fine, you have folk heroes like robin hood, and probably king arthur
and in some ways? very fun that it goes nuts! all hog wild about books and retellings and mashing them up, reclaiming the narrative and creating something new, something bonkers.
i just. don’t think it worked. like 80% of it. just did not work.
i hate that i love belle going i see the good in rumplestiltskin, bc i think that’s sweet.
but i hate so much that it’s just. that. and how that so often does reduce belle to a nothing character.
like, i do love ships where it’s like. belle does see the good in him, it exists, belle makes rumplestiltskin want to be a better person, he's just far more preoccupied with finding baelfire first.
like, to love rumplestiltskin but not be blinded to his faults. not to be guiding light for rumplestiltskin, but to grow together, and see him for who he is right now. see who he could be, sure, but also, love him as is. maybe try to save him from being the dark one, since that’s a curse, but also understand him, all his darkness and his light.
there are elements in which i really like in this ship, but in moderation, that i just feel so unhappy with where the show decided to take them, and amplify it to all the worst and uninteresting ways tbqh. rumplestiltskin is a work in progress, meant to be fixed, and i don’t want belle to be better, some high ideal and paragon to strive for, but rather, an equal.
idk if i would have made sleeping warrior canon. i just. didn’t get the interactions enough to be like oh mulan is def. in love with aurora.
i mean... she was. she was clearly going to confess to aurora before aurora was like. i’m pregnant with philip’s child yay!!! what were you going to tell me?
but like. i would have maybe stretched out the love triangle a little more than we got? maybe it would have ended poly, idk.
i just think it was a tad too rushed is all, and i’m not sure i was v. good at tracking mulan who seemed like she was in love with philip to falling for aurora. could it have been done? yes! absolutely! i just... don’t think i fully bought the change of heart, tho.
but i liked philip being besties with mulan, i liked philip and aurora being in love, i enjoyed mulan and aurora gradually becoming friends. all interesting sides to play! and.... wasted their shot, ngl.
it def. didn’t help that i was like, oh i like the idea of aurora/hook at the time tho. before hook was... well... that.
one of the biggest problems with rumple/belle is that the show wanted too hard for belle to be rumplestiltskin’s saviour
and it’s like. this is why rumple/cora was so much more intriguing tbh? bc cora loved rumple as is.
and it’s like. i wanted belle to be like, idk. not entirely i want you to be better. not entirely, i see you for the person you could be. like, knowing that there’s a good man in rumple isn’t the problem with the ship, but the show compounded it too much to that that... it’s just kind of like. making belle rumple’s moral compass is a disservice to both characters, bc both s2-3 were just kind of like belle being i want you to be this kind of man, with rumple agreeing but p. much pretending to be that man if belle was in the room.
like. you can love a man with darkness, who suffers from addiction and trying to recover from that. but this wasn’t what was written.
but!!!
skin deep was such a cute introductory episode for them as a ship, and no other episode really portrayed them quite as sweetly, and then i think the show got too caught up in belle being... like... well if she just loves him enough, he’s bound to change his ways? she’ll be his salvation?
