OUAT Positivity: Week 13
Week Thirteen // February 29 - March 6 // Favorite Moment(s) of Hope
This show is about hope and holding on to that hope even when things look their worst. What are the moments that gave you hope?
There have been so many hopeful moments in the show that I actually had to spend time thinking which ones I liked the best. So I’m gonna be mentioning the most important hopeful moments for me in every season.
Season 1
Episode 1.22 “A Land Without Magic”: I loved this episode and how the story came full circle, but one of the aspects I liked the most was when Snow tells Charming that they should take back the kingdom. It was so nice seeing them fight together and hoping that they could restore their castle and their kingdom and be rulers there. Another hopeful moment in that episode was when Snow and Charming found each other in Storybrooke. I think it gave everyone hope that no matter how dark the circumstances where, you could always triumph in the end.
Season 2
Episode 2.02 “We Are Both”: In this episode, I think the most hopeful moment was when David gave his speech about being both characters and not trying to be defined by either one of them. People were losing hope about returning home and being confused about who they were, and it was David the one who gave them that little push they needed so they could recognize that you don’t have to be defined by things in your past, you can choose whoever you want to be and use your past experiences to move forward to your future.
Episode 2.03 “Lady of the Lake”: I loved the episode because it gaves us a moment I really wasn’t expecting to see: Jefferson finally being reunited with his daughter. I loved that even though he was slowly losing hope of ever seeing her again and for her to recognize him as her father, he was finally granted his wish and they could both see and hug each other after 28 years. It taught us that is never too late when you want something hard enough.
Season 3
Episode 3.22 “There’s No Place Like Home”: I loved several parts in this episode. For one, I loved when Emma saw her parents fall in love. I thought that moment really gave her hope. If her parents were still in love after so much challenges and heartbreak, surely the same thing could happen to her. Another thing was when Emma decided Storybrooke was her home and chose to stay there. That episode also gave us hope about Emma finally admitting her feelings for Killian and starting a relationship with him.
Season 4
Episode 4.13 “Unforgiven”: This episode was amazing because of the sort of “vows” Emma exchanged with Killian about seeing the best in each other. I think that moment gave hope to a lot of people because it reminded us how far Emma had come and how no matter the circumstances, she was going to choose to see the best in her partner and refuse the old feelings of wariness and distrust to cloud her judgement again.
Season 5
Episode 5.01 “The Dark Swan”: I thought the most hopeful moment in this episode was when everyone found Emma and Killian talked her out of killing Merida. It gave me hope that perhaps his voice would be enough to keep her feet on the ground and prevent her from doing harm to people. Of course, it ended up being both ways, but that was one of my favorite hopeful moments of the episode.
Episode 5.04 “The Broken Kingdom”: From this episode, I loved the fact that Killian vowed to never stop fighting for a future for him and for Emma. That vowed I think, gave Emma hope that no matter how dark everything looked, Killian would be there all along. I think that’s one of the facts that allowed Emma to never give in to the darkness completely: Killian’s unwavering love for her.
Episode 5.11 “Swan Song”: Though during this episode everything seemed dire and hopeless, the ending was one of the most hopeful endings I’ve seen in TV. Emma vowing to rescue Killian from whatever his fate is and not giving up even when she would have to go to the Underworld for him? That’s hope, and that is exactly what this show is about. And not only that, but her whole familt going with her, including the people who inspired her to pursue a love just as strong (Snowing). That ending was definitely one of my favorite ones to date.
To end this last post of OUAT positivity, I wanna thank @tlynnwords for coming up with this challenge, because with so much negativity out there it’s easy to see the bad things and ignore the good things, and so it was amazing that each week we focused on an aspect of the show we liked. Thanks for bringing a lot of people together for this and I look forward to a similar challenge like this one in season six!
