Tangleweed and brine
Tangleweed and brine
*
As I move along
Familiar walkways
And open the doors and windows to
Familiar rooms and spaces
I miss you
*
For you’ve left behind
A web of tangleweed
That continues to pull and tug
Even though I try my best
To steer clear of it.
*
And with it returns
The salty taste of brine
That I had assumed
Would not touch my nostalgic eyes or lips
Any more
*
And even though I wince often
I know
Time with its clippers of indifference
Will make sure
I get over it like everything else
*
Till Tangleweed and brine
Become nothing more
Than a collection of recycled fairytales
Meant to be untangled from
And shelved after a good read.
