Oude Rode Ogen, also known as Old Red Eyes or the Beast of Flanders, is a phantom hound that has been seen in the Flanders region of Belgium since the 17th century. It is said to resemble a large black dog with burning red eyes, but has also been seen in the form of a man and a shadow.
The legend of Oude Rode Ogen began after a series of children went missing, believed to be victims of a shape-changing cannibal. Eventually, a large, naked black man was seen running away from a young girl's room. He was shot, but changed into the form of a large black dog to escape.
