the fandom is like ‘Gojo and qifrey are basically the same guy’ are you sure? Qifrey and Geto are both girldads who are the reason their ten-year situationship since school can’t work out, with something evil taking root inside them, who are incredibly mentally ill and grow increasingly erratic/concerning in their behavior.

meanwhile Olruggio and Gojo are both child prodigies who grew up with immense pressure to be the best, who have had to learn to accept not saving everyone but can’t accept killing, who aren’t quite anyone’s dad but certainly aren’t NOT their dad, who have been yearning hopelessly for years and years while watching the person they care about grow more unstable yet being unable to actually stop them, and who ultimately are the only ones able to stop the cycle with Qifrey/Geto but still can never bring themselves to do it

olly’s half of oufrey is sooo insane because like. you are deeply hopelessly irreversibly in love with your best friend. he lies to you about everything and you know it and he knows that you know it. you have lived together for a decade. you can only communicate through oblique metaphors and miles upon miles of skirting the subject. he is home to you. you do everything you can to make him accept your help and love and devotion and he does everything he can to avoid it. you are his biggest weakness, a loaded gun lovingly held to his temple and you have no idea. genuinely wtf

I feel like Olruggio and Qifrey could have a horrifying power dynamic, but Olruggio genuinely isn't aware of it and therefore can't consciously excert control over Qifrey.

Qifrey cannot leave Olruggio. We've already seen that if he tries to leave, he will get too comfortable and die. If Olruggio were to hurt him, isolate him, do anything he wanted to him, Qifrey wouldn't have much choice in the matter. It's stay with Olly or die for Qifrey, which leaves him extremely vulnerable.

Of course, Olruggio is not the type of man to do any of that. He is a kind man who genuinely cares about Qifrey, and would not desire to hurt him.

It's still interesting to me though... I think Qifrey's pictured this reality before, and felt guilty over daring to imagine Olly so cruel before. He'd think himself more deserving of possessive cruelness than tenderness, but wouldn't think he deserved either. I think there's few things he wouldn't do for that man anyways tbh.
