Don’t think about the boat.
Don’t think about the boat.
Don’t think about the boat.
Don’t think about the boat.
***sigh***
I’m thinking about the boat.........
I’m sorry for being so quiet again, I’m going to be quiet for a while longer. I’ve been trying to recover from a further, more severe bout of meningitis for the last month whilst also preparing for our move.
We need to move by the 1st of May and these last two and a bit weeks are going to be exhausting and hectic, not least of which because of where we’re moving to:
We’re moving to a boat in the next couple of weeks and for a while we’ll be without proper electricity so I won’t be around very much but we’ll be settled and up and running before you know it.
Good vibes for the move are much appreciated and I’ll be back properly soon!
in the meanwhile, happy 413! <3
From the stash
Pop and granddaddy building our big boat back in the 1960′s. I dunno if they were working on the hull or climbing up in into it to work. As you can see, there is a good reason we always just called it “the big boat” and they had to build a huge barn to construct it.
Hey, I know that tall rickety wooden ladder! I uses to use it to climb up to the platform that had a built in ladder to the rafters. I’d dare myself out there and swing on the metal cables hanging down. The ladder scared me more than the rest, since it had a couple cracked rungs by then.
As you can tell, I spent a lot of time playing on my own, risking my life! When Mom finds out things I used to do, she keeps saying she’d have had a heart attack if she’d known! LOL
Last night was an unforgettable and inspiring night at L.A. Shorts International Film Festival. We saw several quality indie films from a number of talented filmmakers and we finally had the World Premiere of our film Our Boat - A Mystery Drama Short Film

Does ANYONE know someone that can help us with this boat situation? (We are in eastern North Carolina)
Seriously, we do not have anyone to help us, not even someone good at tying things up.
My brother, the one set to inherit the boat, says we just need to haul out the boat and leaves it at that. The logistics of that are insanely challenging with the river down a very high bank and the existing road not traversable by even a car anymore (we walk down). This would be expensive as heck. He isn’t coming to help us.
If the boat breaks loose, or even worse the dry dock does too, it will rush down river to the sound and ocean. It will be a navigation hazard, do damage, and...
I can’t. I freak out thinking about it all.
Mom sighs and says she can’t find anyone to help. She’s tried. She can’t even get anyone to show up to give us a quote on a dock and she has been trying since Pop died in 2014! Even Pop’s commercial fisherman friend who said he would help us disappeared. No one around here has more than small fishing boats, and they shrug and leave it to us without offering to help. Mom figures we have exhausted all we know to do, but it isn’t enough.
We are too small amd poor for people to be interested in our calls for help, but too big to deal with it all on our own.
I wish I could have downloaded a copy of Pop’s brain before he died. At least I would have the knowledge to deal with this stuff!
I loved the boat as a child. Now it is my biggest source of anxiety.
I wish to hell there were someone willing to take the boat off out hands.
