When a man builds himself out of cheese he should see the toothpick coming. When the politics of pain is argued over a randomized value system based on what doesn’t piss people off who get off on getting pissed off then everyone is doomed to be pissed off eventually.
How sources of information that are fueled by systems of inequality are the systems that oversee the validity of uncomfortable discussion we will always be deprived of that confrontation. The reason so many basic problems of personal identity still operate as if they’re functional, is because we’ve yet to actually push passed the caution tape We have yet to be the outlier, we have yet to be proof of a different experience. We let self proclaimed victims of their own laziness be the spokes people for those that suffer real poverty which then silences the true state of those impoverished. How body image is the petty shit we debate while the world is still a violent pollution palace, that the lucky among us don’t have to live directly beside gnarled hum-droning industrial waste scapes and yet see it day to day as acceptable unchangeable, eternally okay because it’s not me right now story of where we’re at in this country. The awareness given to aspects of experience that are universally inhumane is so minuscule beside the sky scrapping wall of awareness given to aspects of experience that are only an issue to an individual or small group. And when we talk about the universal injustices we gloss over them as if they’re insolvable equations. Most of these issues can be solved in a practical manner; issues of consumption and the havoc it reeks with wastage of usable resources, with industrial by-products made from materials destined to become those very by-products of waste, issues of how our cities function and are planned, these are solvable issues. But we don’t spend our minds on these, we are somehow, coincidentally sticky in a web of entirely subjective problems that have no path to clarity and only end in further entanglement and confusion. Apparently we should spend all of our energy entangled so that there’s none left for us to not be red-neck morons who leave beer bottles floating in creeks along The Bruce Trail.
