Ourism
I'm promoting a concept called "Ourism." Who's with me? Imagine a radio spot. [Sound of bustling city street fades in] VO: We've all heard of tourism, and we all want people to come visit our beautiful cities, towns, and villages. But before we can have tourism, we need to foster something even more important in our communities. I'm talking about "ourism." [Sound of confused murmurs] VO: Yes, "ourism." You can't have tourism without "ourism." You see, "ourism" is all about creating welcoming, inclusive communities where everyone feels valued and respected. [Sound of someone coughing skeptically] VO: I know, I know. It sounds like a tall order. But think about it. When you go to a new place, what do you really remember? Is it the flashy attractions or the beautiful scenery? Or is it the people you meet along the way? [Sound of people agreeing] VO: Exactly! And that's why "ourism" is so important. It's about getting to know and appreciate the diverse cultures and communities around us. It's about learning from each other and building connections that last a lifetime. [Sound of someone laughing] VO: Oh, I know what you're thinking. "This guy's crazy! Who has time for all that touchy-feely stuff?" But trust me, when we start fostering "ourism" in our communities, we'll start seeing the benefits in every aspect of our lives. [Sound of someone else laughing] VO: And who knows? Maybe one day, people from all over the world will come to our towns and cities not just for the sights and sounds, but for the warmth and hospitality of our "ourism"-fueled communities. [Sound of people cheering] VO: So let's get started on fostering "ourism" in our own communities today. Who knows what kind of amazing connections we'll make? [Sound of people chiming in] VO: Exactly! You can't have tourism without "ourism." So let's make "ourism" a part of everything we do. MAN: Says who? WOMAN: Say us. [Sound of people agreeing] VO: This message was brought to you by the Ourism Council of America
