↳ A CLOSER LOOK:
Dominic and Sharice Hayward was high school sweethearts, always did things together. Go to church, every dance together, Sunday lunch with each other’s parents. Dominic had a promising future as a NFL football player and Sharice wanted to start her own literary journal. They talked about having kids in high school and a promising future together, however. They broke up during college years due to being long distant, but they didn’t stay away from each other long. Sharice ran into Dominic during a press tour that the journal she was working for and both of them decided to get married on a whim. Dominic and Sharice went back to Cotton Plant, settle down and Dominic opened up his own auto-shop, Dom’s garage. Sharice started her own literary journal company outside of Cotton Plant, Cup of Tea.
A few years later after their first born was born, Cyrus was born. As he grew up, Cyrus gotten in the habit of going to his dad’s shop after school and after football practice. He knew that he wanted to work for his father. However, when he was five, his mom packed up her bags and left them in the middle of the night. Cyrus was confused on why she would leave them, since it seemed like they were happy. One day he overheard his dad on the phone with his mom, begging her to come back but the next day, divorce papers were in the mail.
Over time, Cyrus learned from the get-go that he could get away with a bunch of different things. From car racing, fixing up cars, skipping school and having a bit of freedom along with keeping a low-profile with the police. It wouldn’t look great to have his name show up in the newspaper or have a police record. However, one way to keep out of trouble was joining the sports programs. His sophomore year of high school, he joined the automatic mechanics club and started working on cars even more.
In his senior year, things had changed when he received a basketball scholarship; he took it after making sure his father was in good shape with the business. He ended up going into the Mechanical Engineering field with a minor in History. He was someone who was intrigued and decided to go after weighing on the pros and cons list. He decided to declare his major in Mechanical Engineering and got his hands dirty even more when he decided to work at a bar after learning how to be a bartender. Throughout his years in college, he had fallen in love with a girl in his dorm and knew that he wanted to marry her. Except she didn’t feel the same. It had gotten to the point where they were ready to settle down, before a few things happened and caused them to break up. Now, he hooks up on the regular and isn’t ready to fall in love again.
He graduated with flying colors with his degree in Mechanical Engineering and minor in History. He talked to his dad into letting him have time to be a young adult and travel the world before coming back to Cotton Plant. While he was traveling, he found out that his mom had remarried and had two other kids. He didn’t take the news well. He ended up going through periods of binge drinking, figuring that it would numb the pain. He treated it as an I’m feeling sorry for myself.
Once he was done traveling Europe, he flew out to Philly, where he got a job at one of the bars as he struggled to get work. He stayed in Philly for three years, keeping tabs on his father and the business. He ended backing up his bags, gotten of his lease and headed back to Cotton Plant in March. He applied at Ace of Clubs, one of the bars his friends used to go to before they left for college and had gotten the job.
