But they can't remember
There's music pounding in her ears, the room is shaking with this unrelenting sound.
There's fire in her eyes, and an ache in her heart.
There's no more reason. Only revenge.
She's awake.
Something about this was far too nice, it was like a dream. A different dream? Or a memory. The world had a pink glow to it, one that was unfamiliar to them.
What was this? A glittery sugary paradise, a house made of candy with darkened windows. Curtains drawn apart with nothing to hide, yet when they approached the window they could see nothing. Nothing but darkness. Only black.
Who were they? They couldn't tell, the window had no reflection to reveal their identity.
Where are we? We looked to the sky, a deep blue contrasting with the pink glow of the world. The city around us didn't make sense, the buildings were twisting in unatural ways, stretching into the sky. Wormholes connected sidewalks and alley ways to far off places unseen from where we were now. Its citizens, a blur to our vision, too fast to keep up with, too much of a headache to keep thinking about.
You turn to face the window once more, and jump back in shock. Two eyes greet you in the darkness, the black shifts. A face revealed, he's trying to speak to you, but you can't hear.
Ancient Rome brought us the most disturbing fashion of all: socks with sandals. Despite the taboos of modern life, our earlier ancestors went out boldly and proudly wearing open-toe sandals with socks underneath. Apparently, wearing sandals without socks is a relatively new phenomenon.
“If somebody wishes to wear socks and sandals, they ought to be allowed it. Somebody else’s personal preference should have no bearing on what other people wear. Some people want to wear sandals but don’t like having bare feet. They’re not hurting anybody. I’ve never understood why there’s so much hubbub about the whole thing. Idiotic thing to argue with people about, really.”
