Time for a weekend video with a look at the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis port of OutRunners. A decent attempt at converting the Sega System 32 game to a format that could never hope to reproduce the arcade original. Why OutRunners wasn't ported to the Saturn itself remains one of the many blunders of Sega during the mid 1990s. Sega appeared to have lost much of the System 32 hardware and source code as many of the games never reappear on home consoles.
From this video alone you can see how incorrect all the Sega Mega Drive, emulators current are. As the Mega Drive itself displays a picture outside of the older CRT safe area, which no emulators currently reproduce correctly.

One of the few Sega System 32 arcade games to get a home version. Even if the poor Mega had no hope of doing a decent port due to the power of the arcade, it’s another game that should have been port to the Saturn but never was.
Another shout out for The Arcade Flyer Archive where I sourced this great art from.
