Hermione's child and Tom make a handmade gift for Father's Day. it's hideous
“Don’t say a word,” Hermione hissed as she jumped back in beside him. Tom swallowed and nodded. Theo was grinning as he approached the bed, his hands behind his back.
“Happy Father’s day daddy,” he exclaimed, swinging his arms around and shoving a badly wrapped parcel into Tom’s hands. Tom glanced at Hermione, the witch was smiling at Theo but Tom could see she was stifling a laugh.
“Thanks buddy. Want to help me open it?” Theo was already bounding up onto the bed beside his parents and Hermione shifted so that he could slip into the bed between them.
“It’s a cup,” Theo said just as Tom was beginning to unwrap it. That’s useful Tom thought right as Theo said “I made it.” Maybe not he mentally cringed as he helped Theo rip the paper free of the cacophony of sellotape he’d used.
Silence prevailed when the “cup” fell from the wrapping and onto Tom’s lap. Tom hoped Theo wouldn’t mind if he took it to work and his son never saw it again because there was no way it was usable. Infact the only way it was distinguishable as a cup was because of the hastily added handle that Tom would be lucky to fit two fingers through.
An elbow to the ribs from Hermione brought him back to the fact that his son was looking up at him expectantly. Tom cleared his throat and avoided Hermione’s knowing eyes.
“I love it son,” he croaked, “thank you.”
“I’ll go get you a drink,” Theo said, jumping quickly from the bed, cup in hand and dashing from the room before Tom could stop him.
“I hate you,” he groaned, falling back into the bed and into his wife’s arms, “why didn’t you help him?”
Hermione snorted and continued to sip her morning tea from the cup Theo and Tom had made her for mother’s day.
