North Queensland Floods 2019 north-queensland-flood-crisis-2019Download I created this document as the 11 days went on, it's mainly photos, but has a concise summary of events as well.
As an Australian that lives on a station and constantly runs into large spiders, snakes, scorpions, dingos, wild pigs, kangaroos and every other dangerous Australian animal that you can imagine. I firmly believe that as a country that lives with dangerous things we are either really tough or really stupid.
Due to the unusual situation of having too much data to use (because when I want to use it it’s always slow at; bloody tourists), I’ve now downloaded the Tumblr app. Help might be needed shortly 😂
In other news, sitting under the stars is fucking awesome.
I’m barely halfway through my 4th week in this place and so much happened already!
The spontaneous: a photographer got a shot of me handing room keys to his mate bc the reception area is really nice. So I might end up in a fishing mag?? (Who knows)
The drama: ended up sleeping at 2 after standing guard with the other American girl to make sure the shouts of the arguing couple didn’t end badly. We walked out of ours rooms at least 3 times when we heard shouts, knocked on a locked door, and escorted her to a new room with her stuff. And ofc the dude woke us up at 4am to find out which room we put her in (soz, but I ain’t gonna tell you). Thankfully he didn’t drive off drunk, but he did leave the following morning.
And I’m pretty sure we’ve lost (or losing) 6 staff in 2 days. Right before Easter. Yay. My day off wasn’t scheduled until Sunday anyway, but if the other receptionist leaves-- who knows, my hours might hit the 60-70 mark?? @.@
Anywho. I should probs get to writing more...
Ubirr was beautiful by the way! Magical, stunning and amazing. I could’ve spent all day on top of the lookout.
End of update...
