There’s a post going around about someone saying that Jason isn’t actually victim-blamed and was wondering what you think about that and you’re thoughts about Jason’s death and how it was handled in general

i’m like.. half-and-half on this. i do think i agree that on the most technical level “victim-blame” is maybe the wrong word to use and it does rob jason of agency for his motivations and actions (esp as the element of him searching for sheila and finding her is erased entirely from comics published post-resurrection). but i also think op’s focus on agency to justify how jason is perceived by others is a bit ironic because i mean.. the fact that people like bruce or tim or dick or barbara afford him agency is also accompanied by the fact that they consistently deny him personhood (albeit i will interject here that i think it’s ooc for bruce and esp barbara to be guilty of this and i will never buy it personally). the problem is less that he’s blamed at all for his actions and more that he’s made exclusively into a symbol of what not to do / be while all else about his life is shut behind closed doors and ignored until he’s distilled into little more than a martyr. and admittedly, maybe the reason that’s so often overlooked is because of how apathetic winick or writers thereafter are to dealing with the complexities of grief and loss and the inevitable objectification that comes with it. i went into it in more detail here, but realistically aside from the contention with the joker specifically i think the most potent issue to explore with jason post-resurrection should have been the reclamation and / or rejection of his personhood. all of the aforementioned people were entitled to their various reactions to his death, but that entitlement obv came at the cost of reducing jason to what he did and not who he was, and the near-suicidal modus operandi of the red hood should have triggered at least someone (bruce / barbara) to question the consequences of that reduction. but because the focus in under the hood is so heavily on what jason does and not who he is (to the extent that his entire backstory prior to his death is rendered completely irrelevant), we don’t actually get that moment of recognition from anyone. it’s not important to anyone that jason denies himself life via the red hood. in under the hood and up through the end of the original post-crisis era as we know it, it’s only important that he be stopped for the sake of others, not for the sake of himself. he’s basically a suicidal operative and not even bruce cares despite how relentlessly he beat himself up over his part in jason’s death in the 90s. op mentions towards the end of their post that sometimes stories just aren’t about your fave, and that’s true to an extent, but the problem is that not even jason’s stories are actually about him. they’re about ideology, they’re about the no kill rule, they’re about everyone else’s guilt over his death or the lack thereof. they’re never about jason’s life, or about what he stands to lose if not only he but the people around him deny him the right to live it

(Maybe this has been asked but I tried looking and found nothing, probably because tumblr is tumblr) but what do you think of the idea of Jason going into a more supernatural / gothic noir direction? Obviously not with the all blades because they suck ass but in a way that uses more paranormal or horror elements to explore his character?

i mentioned it once but if i were allowed to write a single red hood story it would be jason involved in a murder case which seems to be caused by some sort of a demonic entity and he'd engage with ghosts for that sake, but the ghosts would not be happy to see him and would kindly inform him that his place is with the living + later it would turn out that the perpetrator was not any kind of a supernatural being but simply a cop. that way i could have some fun with horror elements but we'd get down to earth (as i believe jason's character is destined to) in conclusion.

Thanks for your question. We have good news and bad news about this:

The bad news is that we’re not currently looking into making this into a part of Tumblr. The inbox and messaging systems need more general usability improvements before we might consider adding an advanced feature like this.

The good news is that there are already third-party tools that do just this, namely Outbox for Tumblr. Do note that this is a browser extension, however, so no asks you send in the mobile apps will be saved by this nifty plugin.

Well my Hands with how they work biologically was actually heavily inspired by the Gems: them not needing to eat, being at like a set age but still able to learn and change themselves, them not really understanding mortals/humans' needs at first, are able to shapeshift, and most interestingly, their Cores are in a sense like inner gems with how Gems'...gems are their true self. So of course, I realized it would be cool if they had a fused form. ...Actually it happened because I was trying to make one of them in heroforge but didn't find a glove option that satisfied me, so I made a form where it's both of them. Their form (exclusively they/them so...calling them a guy wouldn't be very accurate) is something I've yet to even draw and picrews don't really capture them the same way as the original design did. I'm planning to reveal at least how their existence came about through fic as well, tbh. A few things I can mention that they have physically is: they're so powerful that they can't replicate human skin tone, so their skin is fully the space-like pattern that I think i've mentioned my Hands had under their sleeves/under their glove in Hand form. They also have something like central heterochromia where with gold on the outside and purple on the inside. Their pupils are also more cat/dragon-like. The biggest thing about them is that they can have total of 10 limbs including their head. They usually go about with the regular amount plus two extra arms, but they can also have feathery grey wings and a scorpions like tail like the Master Beast form of Master Core has. They're also at least 8 feet tall normally instead of the Hands' human forms being around 6 feet, though they can be bigger if needed. Also like a gem fusion, Mas's sword combines with Craz's scythe to turn into something similar to a naginata. No idea what this weapon would be called though. They also do not wear gloves (because I couldn't find decent ones on heroforge) because they're not as sensitive to touch as either Hand is. They're also rather draconic not just with the slit pupils, but also have dragon-like horns- the shape I had them in were sort of laurel crown-like too. They also mostly wear black with yellow accented clothing. Still pretty formal too. Personality-wise, they are quite terse, partially because it takes a lot of mental effort to stay in this form...at least at first. If they feel a strong emotion about something, it's because both Hands feel that way. They also view the Hands the same way Garnet view Ruby and Sapphire- I based them a lot on Garnet. They also sometimes, like Garnet, get their pronouns mixed up, changing between "I" and "we" at the drop of a hat. Also! Sometimes to better get used to the form, sometimes, they will be seen chilling somewhere private (or mostly private) in the castle/whatever you want to call it. At least one person not in the know about this whole situation and no one believed them when they mentioned a giant purple person sleeping on the couch somewhere with the door accidentally cracked open. If you ever see them in battle, it is due to a Godzilla threshold situation. Whoever/whatever they're facing is either doomed when they appear...or hopefully will be.

🍅: this is cheesy as hell im so sorry for this answer. there is a reason i dont post using them usually. LMFAO. we both are prone to calling each other pretty boy, though the connotations tend to be different . ! i call him many things but especially babe/baby, princess ( Reclaimed but he rolls his eyes about it). hyo or hyochan also tho those are nicknames more so.! he calls me lots of things . particularly kitty/kitten. sometimes its not pretty boy its just 'pretty'. if i'm being especially entitled to something / bratty i get called 'my prince' or 'my liege' . the rest get a possessive 'my' as well sometimes . he is full of pet names he switches through them once every 3 sentences 🍞: chigiri's default state is teasing (annoying ass), so a lot of the softest things are in morning light ..still lazy with sleep and wrapped up in each other... Sorry im distracted . he tells me he wants to marry me someday when the sun hasnt even risen yet and hes mumbling into my shoulder like its not even a conscious thought 🪥: there isnt a toothpaste emoji my poor layout. friday nights are usually movie nights !! a tradition i have carried from my dads family into our place. we get takeout and watch a lot of old romcoms usually (or horror movies so i can get skittish and use him to steady when i jump). also other older movies . my favorite is 10 things i hate about you so we watch it once a season
