On this episode of OutCasting, we follow up on the previous version of OutCasting, which featured an abridged reading of the play, "Queering History," written by Maggie Keenan-Bolger with homeless LGBTQ youth. The play illustrates the effects of the exclusion of LGBTQ history in our schools. In this episode, OutCaster Travis talks with Maggie about the play.
Coincidentially, three years ago, on July 14, 2011, the Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, and Respectful (FAIR) Act was signed into law in California, ending the exclusion of LGBTQ history in California schools. On an earlier edition of OutCasting, we spoke about the law with its sponsor, Cal. State Sen. Mark Leno.
This program was produced by OutCasting youth participants Lester, Nicole, Sydney, Travis, and Josh. OutCasting's executive producer is Marc Sophos.
