Daily Reading- Blue Groper -- Did you know all groped fish are born female? When they become adults is when some turn male and sport that wicked cool@blue color as the females stay brown. The number of males is limited to how many are needed in order to keep the population reproducing. As humans we are born into a society with very strong ideas about the roles we will play in life depending on which sex we are. From a very young age stereotypes of what is acceptable for girls and boys are forced upon us. This conditioning limits us to preconceived ideas of what we are capable of and how we are expected to act before we are even old enough to understand, question or argue. This continues thru school and into adulthood. Some of us rebel early on some don't. As adults we fail to live within the confines of these social stereotypes and may struggle to fit into a specific male or female gender role. The Blue Grooer message is that we EMBODY BOTH masculine and feminine traits. We are not defined or limited by our gender or by what others expect of us. We can EMBRACE ALL or any of the qualities that are available to us as human beings.
