Learn how to brew a delicious cup of coffee while traveling or camping without the need for a coffee maker. This method is perfect for enjoying a hot cup of coffee in the great outdoors, using minimal equipment.
Ingredients: 2 tablespoons coarsely ground coffee beans. 16 ounces 2 cups boiling water. 1 heatproof mug or camping cup. 1 heatproof stirring stick or spoon. 1 piece of cheesecloth or coffee filter.
Instructions: Use a campfire or a portable stove to boil 16 ounces 2 cups of water. When the water starts to boil, put 2 tablespoons of coarsely ground coffee beans into a coffee filter or a piece of cheesecloth. Take the water away from the heat source and let it sit for about 30 seconds to cool down a bit. Put the coffee-filled cheesecloth or filter into a mug or camping cup that can handle heat. Be careful as you pour the hot water over the coffee grounds in the mug. Make sure that all of the grounds are wet. For about 10 seconds, stir the coffee and water together slowly with a heat-safe stirring stick or spoon. For the flavors to come out, let the coffee steep for three to four minutes. Once the coffee is ready, slowly lift the coffee filter or cheesecloth with the grounds out of the mug. This will let the coffee drip back into the mug. Get rid of the used coffee grounds. Before you drink your campfire coffee, let the coffee cool for a minute or two.
