Festival Palmares

This festival only happens once a year for a couple of weekends and we were lucky enough to get to go one night! We arrived early Friday afternoon and began all the festivities - including immediately getting Imperials (la cerveza de Costa Rica) and doing what girls do best... shopping. So we got our beers and did not walk five feet before we were all stopped and asked for IDs... apparently none of us look older than 18. But everything worked out and we went through all the little tiendas and just wandered around the festival. We got to eat the typical (and amazing) Costa Rican food and unwind from a week of school. Unfortunately the one night we were able to go, was the one night that the rodeo was not going on - so no corrido de toros - que torta!  So instead we found a booth that was selling very cheap jello shots and had so much fun! We went and saw the carnival happening on the street by the entrance to the festival. There were marching bands playing amazing music and dancers in these huge "Victoria's Secret"-ish wings and sparkle bras having the time of their lives. Then when the carnival started to die down, we went back into the festival with our whole group and got into some mojitos and (of course) dancing. Safe to say, it was a very fun night.
