Strahd outfit study!
I really wanted to play around with my concept for his outfit and actually get a good reference for it. It’s basically just the multiple layers of the same outfit. With a bonus two of him unshaven and his hair undyed. I headcanon that he keeps shaved because his facial hair greys first. And he wants to look as young as possible. But were he to be on the road without access to a razor or hair dye for a while(like he has been in my game) his facial hair would start to grow and his grey would start to show.
Evergreen Vow Study
(Full View of the Evergreen Vow Outfit)
This is another outfit that @wereah asked me to take photos of, and as I've said before, I enjoy doing this. I think this is a lot of fun and it's a good way for me to take a better look at some of the things that I have.
Just because it is easy for me to forget.
Evergreen Vow is interesting because Nikki is supposed to be a princess knight, I think? At least that's the impression I get. Also, as a side note, if you're familiar with this franchise at all, you may consider this outfit belonging to the Empire of Light. Especially since outfits that imply war tend to belong to them.
As usual, I've had to remove pieces or change out hair styles in order to see ever bit of this outfit. The bustle of the skirt really gives it vibes that she would have been wearing those Disney-like ballgown dresses, of course it's a slight wrap around as she needs to keep her legs free to move.
At this point, I'm still learning what I need to go get to all the references, and I didn't put Nikki into a shorter dress for the boots. So I don't have a back shot of the boots.
I also didn't take pictures of the stockings, something I have mixed feelings about. There's a lot of details on stockings that get lost because it's not an area of Nikki that you often take pictures of. You also can't tell from the thumbnail neither, these stockings do have imprints on them, but it's in black so it's easy to think that it's just another black stocking.
The cape is visually one of my favourite parts of this outfit, and at first I was also really bemused because it's clearly pleated. However, a quick search reveals that there are pleated capes, but they're normally wrap around capes. Either they cover the shoulders and drape slightly over the front, or they cover the whole torso.
They're not normally this style of cape that is then pleated, but I do understand why. Whatever material this cape is made out of is shiny, and pleating it allows for a lot of light and shadow, it is beautiful cape that I would like to use for something else at some point.
On one sense, I understand why the gloves are this way. They are supposed to be gauntlets, like from a suit of armour. The same way the boots are, but the choice of making them claw like is... curious? While there is a darker version of this outfit, I had the impression that Nikki was supposed to be a 'good' presenting heroine, and not scary.
With a darker colour palette these would look menacing.
The hair is also very Disney princess, not necessarily the style. It's all in the bangs. The way the bangs and the tresses of hair that frames her face is very princess like.
I also think the choice in giving her a half braided bun speaks to that wish to make her a firm knight, and a soft princess.
Complete with crown! This is a pretty standard crown, but it's one that is designed to fit around her bun. So it's not tucked into her hair at all. This does mean potentially that it could look a bit odd in hairstyles that do not have an updo.
It is a neat outfit, not my favourite, but I've never been into this style of princely style.
