Ship It :3 (a real shocker, we know) cont. under cut
What made you ship it? - the 'curse of the blood elves' campaign in warcraft 3 was where my interest in the trio was piqued but i couldn't telll you for sure what exactly made me start shipping them in any active capacity. It might have been me playing through the WoW Shadowlands questline where Vashjkael have a postmortem reunion (and constantly snipe at each other like bitter exes while reminiscing about their days working w/ Illidan) that really got the ball rolling. i think it was probably also the fact that all of the characters had some form of previous failed/unrequited romance that made me want to introduce that element into my interpretation of their relationships, its fun to give a character what they want and then rip it away! the tragedy is tasty AND i get to do it thrice over.
What are your favorite things about the ship? - The ways they both mesh well and also clash horribly, they have great cohesion and managed to take over the outlands in the span of about a week while outnumbered 10 to 1, one of them is obsessed (romantically) with a woman that another one feels only seething hatred and jealousy towards, they all have and freely supply something the others need, they are also entirely exploitative and unsympathetic about it. i already feel like i post a lot about how toxic and doomed they were but honestly they WERE also often good to each other, they saved each other in a lot of ways (both from literal death but also on an emotional level) there was a surprising amount of trust and faith between in spite of everything, especially from Illidan of all people towards Vashj even though he's one of the most paranoid and suspicious people in the world (of warcraft). the love didn't solve anything, it might have even been detrimental in some aspects, but it was there. (and still is if you ask me, Vashj and Kael could easily have chosen to never speak again and yet in an endless afterlife they still drifted back to each other)
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - uhh not anything i can think of right now, not many fanworks exist of the three of them in the first place (a lot of the time i'm reading/looking at stuff of just 2 out of them anyways) :( i guess i couldn't see them ever getting married even if they lived but thats not a popular opinion anywhere (also do NOT give them the responsibility of raising a child, none of them would want one and if a kid under their care even survived it would develop previously unseen mental illnesses)
