One of Wu’s biggest flaws is his inability to see how unethical his work has become. He knows he is capable of such astounding things, things other scientists could only dream of. But Henry never stops to think if this is something he should be doing. Or how his work can affect others.
While I feel that Wu was a sane scientist back when this all started, I know that he has gone way too far now. Back in the days of Jurassic Park, he was just an overly ambitious geneticist who had a lot to prove. He had brought back dinosaurs and what a marvel that was. While people questioned if the recreation of dinosaurs was truly ethical, he certainly wasn’t a villain.
As he enters Jurassic World, Wu is really flirting with the fine line between science and villainy. He created a monster hybrid that literally brought about more destruction than the first park could’ve ever imagined. Indominus was, genetically, a huge success. Combining all those different genes into a viable dinosaur is certainly not easy. Unfortunately she was a terrible idea for the park’s overall safety. And, honestly, he knew that, but he gave corporate what they wanted.
Finally, in Fallen Kingdom, Wu has definitely crossed over to the villainous side. He knew the monster he was creating. While he tried to stop Mills from selling the Indoraptor, knowing it still needed work, he still knowingly created a weapon. And he had completely intended to improve and eventually sell his creation, no matter the cost. And the worst part is that he doesn’t ever take responsibility for what he has done.
Wu always takes the credit, but never the blame.
