It is often said that due to the genetic PTSD that comes along with being born black in America, we are unable to enjoy and encourage each other’s successes. The most common (and misinterpreted) allegory is “crabs in a barrel” which is where crabs step on each other while trying to escape the barrel; pulling down any crab who makes progress towards the opening. It isn’t until you do make it out that you realize 3 things: 1. A barrel isn’t a crab’s natural habitat so you must have been placed there...🤔 2. You were never actually a crab 🦀 3.
