June is Great Outdoors Month
"Let's go outside and get some Vitamin N (Nature)". Prepare and Stay Fit by Exercising Now. Be as active as you can. Get Outside: Fresh air is one of the best ways to stay healthy. A generation or two ago parents were raising outdoor children who congregated in forests, parks, streets and backyards. They would play for hours on end only to be called in for supper or bed. Over time our culture has shifted and children spend less and less time outside, spending the majority of time indoors on their electronic devices. Nature Appreciation: Take the time, and make opportunities, to appreciate and preserve the natural world around us and get healthier. Slow down and enjoy Savor through your senses - Feel, and listen to, each sensation Think small - Notice tiny details Change your point of view - Look up, look down, look all around Put away your need to do anything - turn off the world Respect wildlife - observe but don't disturb Stay a while Leave only footprints and nicer than when you arrived Recycle to preserve our resources Outdoor children are healthier, happier, stronger, more intelligent and learn to care for nature. Let's all go outside (again) and get some Vitamin N (Nature); adults as well as children. Benefits of Being Outdoors: Better breathing Improved sleep Reduced depression symptoms More motivation to exercise Mental restoration Boosted immune function Vision health Improved emotional well-being from fear, worry and sadness Related Resources: Nature’s Prescription: The 20-5-3 Rule for Spending Time Outdoors Get Your Outdoor Garden Started Benefits of a Green House Foraging for Wild Edibles Staying Fit to Survive Learn Navigation Skills Strengthening Family Survival Skills [Author's Reference Link]
