Happy First Birthday to the Server!

So one year ago today I opened up the discord server I had created in August to the audience of this tumblr blog! In the span of a year, this server has grown 600+ people at the time of writing this and has had a remarkable impact on my own life.

Thanks to this server, I’ve met people I otherwise would not have met, have formed incredible friendships with server members and have become far more comfortable in my own skin than I thought was possible. I also gotten an increase in the amount of hate being thrown at me but hey, the good comes with the bad and I’ll deal with the bad if it means I get the great memories that come wtih the server!

To celebrate the server turning one, I’ve decided to organise a giveaway! There will be one winner and the prize is any Steam game of your choice that is under £10! Sorry that it’s limited in platform, this is just due to my own limitations. However, if you do not use Steam or don’t want any games, you can still join and if you win you can choose to nominate someone else from the server to receive the prize! 

How to enter the giveaway:

1) You must be a member of the discord! 

2) Go to the #giveaway channel and write something positive that has happened in relation to the discord! This can be about the server as a whole, about a person in the server or even, if you are newer, something you hope to gain from being in the server!

3) Please only write one message in this channel and don’t reply to anyone else’s message in the channel! If you do so, your messages will be deleted and you will be disqualified if you do so multiple times! Sorry, but I need to try and keep this simple for my own benefit!

4) The winner will be chosen using a random generator, the message is simply to spread some positivity within the server!

5) The prize is a game on Steam that is £10 or under or you can choose to nominate someone else in the server for this prize if you wish!

So it’s New Year’s Eve and I wanted to take a minute or two to discuss this year, the massive changes that have happened and my hope for the future. This year fuckyeahoutsidexbox hit its one year anniversary, I created the discord which would later be known as Outsidefanstra and the spin off Twitter from there and I became a co-founder of @silvercrowmedia, a result of meeting 5 other amazing people on the Outsidefanstra discord and spending many hours playing and streaming DnD with them. And this was only the online stuff. 

This year has been interesting for me. There were a lot of downs this year. My grandfather died in April, my PTSD kicked my arse and I didn’t get the grades I needed for my original university course. However, for all those downs, there were ups. I may not have got into my original university course but I was accepted onto a different one that was so, so much better than my original. I hit 6 months clean. And finally, I met all the wonderful people through Outsidefanstra and played a hell of a lot of DnD.

I can’t express how grateful I am to all of you, whether you follow fuckyeahoutsidexbox, whether you follow outsidefanstra or whether you’re a part of our discord community, thank you all for a wonderful year/last few months.

Thank you to the creators who have made this community so vibrant. From Jack’s soundboard and everyone who helped on that to the art produced to the articles we have shared with one another. Thank you for the gaming nights and the Cards against Humanity games and just everything we’ve done as a community. 

And a big, big thank you to @outsidexboxofficial and @outsidextra who have made me smile and laugh, even when I didn’t really want to, and without whom, I wouldn’t have made these accounts and the discord. And a thank you individually to Mike, Jane, Andy, Luke, Ellen and James. Especially to Luke who tuned in to watch us play DnD, even for a few minutes (your reply tweet is still in our discord’s pinned messages) and to Mike who humoured my drinking game on the Halloween stream and replied to my subsequent tipsy tweet (also you’ve made me try and dig up the old racing games from my childhood). Thank you to Johnny who has also been a wonderful DM to watch and also was very kind in responding to tweets from us.

Thank you to everyone whose read this and who has made this year great, even though it’s been one hell of a rocky one. Bring on 2018!

Was Athereon aware of his second form?

He was, but he wasn’t so much aware of his triggers, so he thought that it would be better not to tell the party that he sometimes changes in to a green and white rage monster. 

Is he now dating the mage? Is that a thing that’s happening? :D

Athereon + Marcus = otp. 

How much better do you feel about future combat, knowing you’re much less likely to die now?

So much better!! It’s a relief to know that I can actually fight with the team, even though Athereon is still highly self preservationist, it’s nice to know that if he’s needed he can do something other than run away. 

Does Athereon keep in touch with his family during his travels?

No, Athereon and his father don’t get on and his mother died before the quest began. He has three younger brothers, but doesn’t try to contact them knowing his father would read everything he’d send. 

What’s your favorite thing about your character?

I love how he’s growing, he started off fairly sort of bland and one dimensional in my head, but now he’s becoming a fully fledged realistic character with a set direction in my head. (I also love how powerful is fae form is omg).
