Preference #1:How You Meet
Two-Bit:
You were working your first weekend at your new job at Al’s Diner. It was the first night you were supposed to close by yourself. You patiently waited for the last few customers to finish up and leave. About half an hour before closing, a guy your age walked in, and stood around to be seated. You looked at him from the kitchen doorway, “Wait just a second please! I’ll be right there!” You rushed back out and as you headed toward the guy, he took a step forward and fell to the ground. You skated over, worried he might need medical help of some sort.
“Oh gosh are you okay?”
“Do you have a band-aid? Because I just scraped my knee falling for you.” He winked at you and grinned.
You couldn’t help but laugh at the cheesy pick-up line. You both stood up and you showed him to a seat at the bar. The last old couple left the diner so it was just you and this goofy guy left. “Well, the cook already left, but is there anything I could get you?” You looked at him, batting your eyelashes.
“Hmmm, I don’t suppose you have any chocolate cake?”
“Sorry sweetie-pie, nope. However, not to brag, but I make a mean chocolate milkshake if you’re interested.”
“I’ll take anything you give me baby.” He gave you another childish grin and you giggled at him again. You quickly returned with two chocolate milkshakes, and took a seat next to him at the bar. You made small talk for a while with the guy, who went by Two-Bit, and laughed at every joke he made. You couldn’t help yourself; everything he said was comical. You looked at the clock and realized it was 9:30, half an hour past closing.
“What’s the matter? Ya got a hot date or something?” Two continued grinning, but his eyes showed some concern.
“No, it’s just…well I was supposed to have everything cleaned up and closed half an hour ago.”
He jumped up from his seat, and grabbed the rag behind the counter. You looked at him disbelievingly and cocked an eyebrow. “What are you doing?”
“I’ll clean the counter if you go put these away,” he said handing you the two empty glasses. You skated back to the kitchen to wash the glasses and grab your things. When you walked back out, the counter was spotless and Two was nowhere to be seen. You looked on the counter to see a ten sitting next to a napkin that read: I’ve gotta run too. But I’ll see you soon doll. ; ) –Two
You laughed for what seemed like the millionth time. ‘He’s cute, funny, and tips well’ you thought as you locked the doors and headed home.
