Detroit Cops go ham on a man trying to get into his own car in his own driveway

Detroit cops are off the hook. this man locked his keys in his car in his driveway at his home, and he was using a home made slimjim to try to open the door.

The police roll by see him and jump out and throw him on the porch like he was stealing a car. the whole crowd of people are telling them that it is his own car, and that he is at home

the cops don't listen, draw guns, attempt to force their way into the house; and finally take him away by force after brutalizing him live on camera - broadcast on facebook. This has to stop.

This man is a victim; just like the rest of the victims that have been brutalized by the DPD. the chief has spoken out and says that there will be an investigation. the man was release without charges and immediately went to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Footage posted to social media showed volatile encounter between Detroit police and man who locked his keys in his car

Two Detroit police officers have been placed on administrative duty after they were accused of using excessive force during the arrest of a man who was trying to break into his own vehicle.

The incident unfolded around 5pm on Monday when officers saw Larry Morrison, 34, attempting to gain access to a vehicle on State Fair Ave in the city’s east side.

Footage posted to social media shows several officers struggling with Mr Morrison as they try to handcuff him on the stoop of a property, according to Fox2Detroit.

As a crowd gathers a person can be heard shouting “he was trying to get into his own car, let him go”.

Mr Morrison then breaks free from the officers, as one punches him from behind and several wrestle him to the ground.

At this point, an onlooker intervenes and grabs one of the officers from behind.

As the volatile situation continues to escalate, one of the officers is seen drawing their weapon.

Mr Morrison was eventually taken into custody. His family say he has been released without charge, and has sought hospital treatment for his injuries.

Detroit Police Department deputy chief Melissa Gardner said on Tuesday that two officers had been placed on administrative duties while the arrest is investigated by the department’s Professional Standards Bureau, according to Fox2Detroit.

Bodywork camera footage and video posted to social media would be reviewed as part of the investigation, which will determine whether further training or disciplinary measures were needed.

Ms Gardner noted that Mr Morrison had refused to give the officers his name, and the officer who drew his weapon had pointed it towards the ground.

Family member Marzett Jackson, who was seen pleading with officers in the video, told WXYZ that Mr Morrison had locked his keys in his car and accused the officers of being overly aggressive.

“This could have all been avoided by them pulling and properly asking him, is this his car, before they jumped out aggressively,” Mr Jackson told the network.

His aunt Chiquita Williams, who owns the house where the arrest took place, told WXYZ her nephew had been struggling to breathe during the encounter.

Another relative Jason Price said he was grateful for the actions of backup officers who helped to de-escalate the tense scene.

The Independent has sought further information from the Detroit Police Department.

TAT: the stoic whumpee has few weaknesses, but he does have them. one is that if he wakes up somewhere unfamiliar, or sometimes simply somewhere different than where he was before, he panics and lashes out violently. this is doubly true if he is waking up in a medical facility.

but now he's injured. his team got him to the med bay/hospital, but they know that when he wakes up all hell is going to break loose. do they minimize his reaction by letting him wake up on his own, knowing they risk him hurting someone (and leaving him with the guilt)? or do they restrain him to his hospital bed, so that when he does wake up he can't hurt anyone—at the cost that his trauma is triggered even more severely, and to risk potentially retraumatizing him? who's guilt and injury do they choose: his, or theirs?

So what happens??? What do they choose?? I wanna know! :)

When I slipped while crossing barbed wire and cut my finger open I wanted to go to the hospital and get stitches. Our crew lead was taking a week off and I and my crew mate rushed back to our house and bandages with everything we had. She took good care of me and when I asked if we should go to the hospital, she said no and we went back to work.

I did end up getting stitches. Exhausted at 1 am after a 10 hour work day they sewed my finger up and sent me home with instructions to keep it clean and dry and to come back in ten days.

At work, when people found out, there were a lot of comments about how they wouldn’t go in for three stitches. They would say, oh that’s rough, but it’s not that bad as I taped gauze around my finger and wore latex gloves for a week.

Ok, you wouldn’t go in, but I was the one that fell on barbed wire. You wouldn’t get the stitches but you weren’t the one dripping blood down your arm.

Maybe I didn’t need to get stitches and it would have healed just fine but I have a scar that is extra sensitive to heat and the nerves are a little funky sometimes so I’m glad I got them.

The whole experience made me want to shake people and say “if my ‘over reaction’ addressed the problem that it wasn’t bad. If it obscured a solution we’d have a problem. I feel better letting an actual trained physician make my health care choices than an archaeologist. “

So, you know, when people tell you you over reacted consider if you were simply more thorough or did you get in the way. If the former, everyone else can fall on barbed wire.
