Monotheism (or what I shall call compulsory henotheism), like monogamy, messes me up. Or, it HAS anyway. I’ve been bound by the idea that I should only have one significant deity relationship at a time. That for me was Someone I call Sophia.
Looking for Her “true nature” I kind of haplessly stumbled into Canaanite recon. The names El and Asherah/Ilu and Athirat we’re familiar feeling from my Christian upbringing to be my gateway into polytheism. Soon, I noticed that I lit up like a light when I would make offerings to Them.
It’s been a while since I’ve talked to the Iluma. Until very, very recently. One of my friends did energy healing on me a few days ago; and they said there were “People” there for me, basically wondering why I didn’t ask Them for more help for emotional healing. The vibe I got was that They wanted to be “let in...”
I don’t feel it’s appropriate to share specifics here but I know there be members of the Illuma at my door again.
They like me, They really like me!
And finally! I’m open! Like friends, one can engage and like and even love *exaggerated gasp* multiple deities. Even at once!
Thanks to energy healing I’m not so afraid. Sophia, Whoever She is, loves me. And will continue to love me. And I will always will. That is clear. It doesn’t mean She has to be Athirat, for example! Athirat can be Athirat, life-giving Oasis in the desert. Ilu can be Ilu, the kind and compassionate One; not the God of Christianity. Ba’al can thunder and Athtartu-shadi can hunt.
Now, I only wish there I had money! Or, at least, access to scholarly material. My only problem is finding information on these beautiful gods! Like, Athtartu is shimmering in the distance for me like sun in the desert. So beautiful.
And I’m left with tantalizing fragments of information, longing for more. Longing to understand more...
