An Indian software engineer recently went viral for holding four remote startup jobs at once, working up to 140 hours per week. He reported earning $30,000 to $40,000 per month, which totals about $480,000 annually. He described himself as a "serial nonsleeper," coding nearly non-stop to manage all his roles.
The rise of remote work in the tech industry has led to a new phenomenon called “overemployment,” where individuals work multiple full-time jobs simultaneously. Juggling Multiple Jobs: How Remote Work in Tech is Changing Employment

Today, I had one of the weirdest experiences of my working life.
I work at a therapy service, checking records before they're filed to make sure they're HIPPA compliant and that we won't lose our shirts if we get audited. This involves marking page-long reports with post-it notes to correct grammar and syntax, make sure that everything adds up. Basic shit. I've got an advanced degree, and this is the sort of thing that one could do without having a high school diploma.
I haven't received a single one in three weeks, and my bosses have been a bit unsure why.
It turns out, the therapists have gone on a miniature strike regarding my variety of paperwork because it's too fucking complicated to reorder a sentence or add in a missing subject. These are people who also supposedly have post-graduate degrees, and who are getting paid a boatload of cash to do their jobs. Which includes the paperwork.
I get that they're helping people and doing important work, etc, but there are something like a half-dozen safety nets to keep this sort of thing from happening. They could even pay someone else to do it. That's legal. The going rate is $1.50 a report, and there are people champing at the bit to get that work.
And they refuse to do it because it would be slightly more work for them to do this.
My boss called me in to his office today to suggest I tone it down.
I mean, I'm not looking for a job that allows me to change the world or something. I just want to pay my bills and not want to put a hole in my head or have whiskey for breakfast. I'm operating at my lowest level of functioning to not offend these people and they're still complaining to the management.
