Author: Kou Yatsuhashi

Label: Overlap Bunko
Release Date: 25 December 2018
My Score: 3/5
Genre: Fantasy, Isekai, Magic School
The story starts with Leticiel, the princess of a nation at war and a proficient mage. The story starts with her death as the war reaches it's climax. When she opens her eyes, she is in the body of Drossel, a noble lady who is shunned by society. It appears that she has been reincarnated into a peaceful future. Leticiel needs to adjust to this new world to survive. She attends an academy and makes friends there, including Zeke, a boy who strongly resembles Leticiel's husband Nao.
This volume was fine. I liked Leticiel and I enjoyed the fish out of water style humour. But the plot wasn't very intriguing and I didn't care for the writing style. I feel like a lot was told to the reader, rather than showing it. It wasn't a bad volume but it hasn't left me with the desire to read more which really is the main point of a first volume.
Adaptation Notes:
This series was adapted into a manga series with art by Neko Yotsuba. The manga lasted for five volumes and takes some big departures from the source material. If you have Hoopla, which you can access through your local library, you should be able to read the English version on there for free. It's under the title of Her Royal Highness Seems to be Angry.
First of all, I really like Neko Yotsuba's art. I like that Leticiel gets a lot of distinct outfits and most of them are really cute, if a bit impractical some of the time. The manga really is it's own thing in this case. It takes the basic premise and most of the characters, but focuses more on mystery and romance. Scene are rearranged to focus more on Leticiel and Nao/Drossel and Zeke, and expends on things about their relationship that weren't described in detail in the novel. I've got to be honest, I found the manga a lot more intriguing, but it does go off the rails in the last couple of volumes.
