Basically Vast!Tim meets Simon before he's even working in the Archives and over the plot (until around s3) Simon basically lures him to The Vast's side and offers him a way out from under Elias if he dedicates himself to The Vast. He still helps out and it's easier for him to not fucking end.

This is the only picture I really have of my entire platoon in Afghanistan. This isn’t even technically the entire platoon since a few had to get sent home early, and we had a few Marines out on other bases. It’s still an important picture to me, and it was taken just a few days before we came home!
