A girl I am Facebook friends with posted this on Facebook back in July when the confederate flag was a hot topic in the news. I know we are primarily supposed to look for media that pops up in our current lives but this photo has enraged me since I first saw it. This meme does not even try to hide racist sentiments, and I feel like the person who posted it, like tons of others, hide their racism behind a guise of patriotism and/or christianity (this is not her only overtly racist post). Not only does it ignore the historical implications of the confederate flag but, most importantly and most offensively, it takes 2 pictures and generalizes an entire argument by painting a negative picture of an entire race. The rant about/analysis of this picture could go on and on.
White nationalists get angry about a lot of Google Doodles
This article was suggested for me on Facebook yesterday. Apparently, some people (aka white supremacists) were offended by Google’s Veteran’s Day Doodle because they claim none of the veterans depicted are white and one person quoted claimed Google is supporting “white genocide.” It is truly baffling that someone could even think this is an appropriate and accurate phrase to use. This most certainly falls under the category of overt racism
