I am pleased to announce that we have completely reworked the event system! We have decided to put more structure into the events and give everyone more incentive to participate! The important thing you need to know is that there are incredible prizes to be earned that benefit the entire community!
I’m putting this under a read more because it’s long, but please take the time to look it over; you won’t be disappointed.
Much love,
Admin Claire; OV Staff
P.S. We are planning to kick off with some events soon; keep an eye out!
Orchid Valley is a small community, but it is growing steadily with the arrival of new residents. Because of this, we, as a town, will host numerous events not just for everyone’s entertainment but for incredible rewards as well.
We will be hosting over half-a-dozen events each season! These events include monthly prompts, festivals, main events, and smaller events. By participating in any of the aforementioned activities, you are giving the town a boost and getting it closer to a tangible reward that you and everyone else in town can enjoy!
Now, how do these events work exactly? Let’s start by talking about what types of events there are.
1. Monthly Prompts will be posted in the first week of every month, and they are open for anyone to reply to! They will consist of a single post, themed around the month they are written in, and you simply have the option to reply to them or start a thread with someone else using that as your theme! For every person who replies, points will be added to our seasonal goal!
2. Festivals are large, overarching themes for the events. Festivals will be roughly a week long, and there will be about two festivals per season. Within the festivals, there will be smaller events which all the residents may take part in!
3. Events happen within festivals, and they can range from small prompts to exciting, chance-based games with prizes! For every resident that participates in, and makes a post about, the events, points will be added to our seasonal goal!
4. Main Events will happen within festivals, and there will be one per festival. These will be the focus of the festival and will usually be the most complex. The payout for Main Events is huge, though! But, it isn’t easy. Simply participating in the Main Event isn’t enough. In order to receive points towards our seasonal goal, there must be a certain number of residents to participate in the Main Event! If the conditions are met, a huge payout will take place, and points will be added to the goal!
So, now the question is… what does meeting the seasonal goal do? Well, this is the exciting part. Meeting the seasonal goal permanently unlocks new events, facilities, buildings, transportation services, and activities for all residents to participate in, and make use of, whenever they please! Not only that, but residents get to vote on their reward each season. The town will be selecting two or three rewards to choose from every season if the goal is met, and, believe us, the rewards will be worth it!
Basically, the idea is just to participate in as many events as possible and have a great time while doing it! By participating, you’re not just helping yourself; you’re benefiting the entire town around you. So please, do your part! Let’s help make Orchid Valley a fun, active community!

You can find this information on the Event Information page.
I’ve taken the time to make some minor changes to the rules. The changes aren’t anything to worry about, but I’ve made 3 corrections in particular that should be addressed.
1. Members may have up to 4 characters each! If you are able to pass a sweep with 4 active characters, you may ask the blog about taking on another.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. If you are able to handle 4 characters, we have added the option of taking a 5th.
2. You may only have an original character if you already have at least one canon character that has passed one or more sweeps and does not have a warning on them.
This is the most important change. All three admins are in firm agreement that from this point forward, in order to join with an original character, members must have an active canon character first. The canon character simply needs to pass a sweep without any warnings to their blog, and they are allowed to take on the character they want. This change is effective immediately, but anyone that already has an original character may keep them unless they are swept from lack of activity or rule-breaking.
3. You may apply for a second original character if your first original character meets at least one sweep and has no warnings on them.
This is just a minor change. Basically, the first original character must pass a sweep without warnings, like the canon character in the previous post, in order for the member to take on another original character.
Please take a moment to read over the rules again just to refresh your memory. If you have any questions about the rules, new or old, don’t hesitate to send a message!
I wanted to make an announcement to let you all know I have just completely overhauled the main page layout! It is currently autumn themed, and I plan to change it every season. Please take a look and let me know what you think about it!
Also, on a more important note, I wanted to remind everyone of the upcoming monthly character sweep.
We will be conducting the sweep on Thursday, October 1st. If anyone has any questions, please message the main page! If you are concerned about meeting the post requirements, please contact me! I would love to start a thread with your characters.
With some coming changes, we’d like to introduce the newest member of the modding team!
Claire and Trent!
They’ll be answering your asks and taking over while I (Jack-mun) have to take a step away for school and real life!
Make sure you treat them well! They’ll be looking after the punishments after all ;)
I’ll be checking in time to time when I can, but for now, Trent and Claire are the ones you’ll go to if there’s any issues! (Or, if there’s something specific, leave a message with *For Jack-mun* in the inbox and I’ll be sure to look it over!
Thank you all for your understanding, and it’s been a great time being here!
Hi there! I was just wondering since you have a list of jobs does that mean that Canonical characters can have a job that's different from the one they had in the game? Thank you!
