Honestly having a mental illness is like constantly going between either “Doom” or “Void”
Have a personality disorder or personality disorder traits?? want to take a quick poll to help people better understand personality disorders? Look no further!
I’m interested in seeing how far back people can trace their personality disorder symptoms. The poll can be found HERE (link)
Self-DX is ok, and all PDs are ok! If you don’t have a PD, please reblog and share this!
Hey~ I’m bored and I want to make a FAQ filled with both personal info and advice, please send me asks?
You are more than the mistakes in your past or the hurt you’ve felt. Your journey is continuing and you deserve to be happy, even when you hit a stumbling block on the path to healing.
about lacking empathy.
From Wikipedia, “empathy is the capacity to understand or feel what another person is experiencing from within the other being's frame of reference, i.e., the capacity to place oneself in another's position.”
The first thing that comes to mind is the saying “walking a mile in someone else’s shoes”.
Lacking empathy is like picking up someone else’s shoes and trying to analyze if you can walk in them. At first glance, you take notice of the design. You might even start to think about why someone would wear these shoes. You think “perhaps these will fit me ok.”
When you put on the shoes, you realize that they’re three sizes too small. Your feet will not fit, no matter how much you try to hurt yourself.
Lacking empathy does not mean that you cannot appreciate what other people have been through. It means that because they are not your circumstances, you honestly cannot imagine how it feels to walk in a different pair of shoes.
Does anyone else with BPD ever feel relieved about a lack of constant personality? I think it’s my favorite thing because it makes me feel like i could become anything i want
