Exit Wounds || Owen & Sage (closed)
"We'll get you home and cleaned up, and everything will be just fine," Gaige prattled on, more to herself than to Sage. Sage felt a twang of guilt for her. Gaige was a bystander here, but someone who'd been forced into the middle of a building war that didn't have any foreseeable end. He almost wished she'd just let him and Rose go, so she wouldn't have to be a casualty of their tumultuous anger.
"No," Sage said softly, wincing as he leaned back in the passenger seat of Gaige's small red car, "Will you take me to Owen's, please?" Owen, his best friend. Any time Sage had ever been injured or down, he'd always gone to Owen. He could feel in his bones that Owen was where he needed to be. Whether that was because Owen had medical training and Sage knew he'd probably received a fracture or two; or just because he knew that Owen could always put a smile on his face... There was no telling.
"Sure," Gaige said with a small nod. And then, the two cousins fell into silence as Sage gazed out the window and Gaige drummed her fingers nervously against the wheel.
Ten minutes of insufferable silence later, she pulled to a stop in front of Owen's place, and Sage unbuckled himself. "Thanks GG," he told her, leaning over and placing a kiss to her cheek, "I'll call you later, okay?" Gaige nodded slowly to him before watching him climb out of the car and walk to the building.
She lingered a moment before finally pulling away, and that was when Sage finally knocked on Owen's door, rubbing absentmindedly at the dried blood on his face. Instantly as the door swung open to Owen's trademark grin, Sage felt better. "Your offer to doctor me up still out there?" he asked, "Cause I might need a little help."
