Confession time, BG3 crowd...

I was on the fence about getting BG3 for a long time. I remember seeing something about it a few months before the release and thinking it looked really fun and that it would be nice to be able to play dnd without coordinating a group. Even then, though, I had not decided to get it.

After the release, I saw even more things about the characters, romances, and game play, all of which looked amazing and so much fun. Still, I had not decided to get the game yet.

So what finally pushed me over the edge to the point I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt I NEEDED BG3 in my life?

This adorable bundle of feathers and fur. From the moment I learned owlbears existed in dnd, I have wanted one as an animal companion. So, only 4 years now, but that's still a long time! I even ruined my DMs plans for a session, not once, but twice because he wanted us to fight an owlbear and my tiefling fighter refused. She succeeded on two intimidation checks with some assistance from our cleric, who lit her on fire.

So, imagine my surprise when one day, whilst mindlessly scrolling through tiktok, I see a video about how you can adopt an owlbear cub in BG3? I lost my freaking mind and decided then and there I would be getting the game, no matter the cost of money or time.

Did I expect it to become my new hyperfocus and completely take over my life? No, I did not. Has it done just that? Yes, absolutely. Do I regret it? Hell no.
