Stories come in layers and sometimes the words shift on the page.New connections form as life opens. This owl is watching and waiting… holding wisdom in the stillness interrupted by the bee as one story becomes two. As I paint and step back and reflect I connect with the different aspects of the evolving story. Owl patient and still amongst the background noise that breaks the background as random letters. The bee steps between the stillness and noise and calls owl back into this moment of connection. Life is lived on n the richness of contrast and openings to new connections and understandings as the story unfolds. I wonder who you are drawn to in this story? Growing into stories Where curiosity ignites spaces of joy and growth. Layers hold a space for dreaming worlds as I dance between the layers. The question is always when to stop and when to allow something new. Sometimes it means recreating a story and covering most of it and leaving glimpses of the original piece. This is what happened here. I do love how the old story shapes the new one as it guides the colour play. This is where the story opens up. The text layers intrigue me and draw me in. The colour contrast adds to the connection between the bee and owl. So many layers as she evolves and grows into those new stories. Owls always hold that sense of curiosity and the desire to look more closely. In a wondering space of curiosity Why do I choose to paint owls and the soul stories they share. What is it that captures my life magic nation and takes me on an adventure? Do you ever wonder why you are attracted to certain things? What do you love and why…what is the feeling space that this one thing creates in your world? I am taking part in @unitedartspace 7 Keys community & we are exploring questions to discover the deeper meaning behind the art that we create. It is all about the details of our story that shape the meaning-making layers in the art we create. This art piece is part of my Wondering Owl collection which is a series of colourful owls. These wondering owls are based on lifelike owls and then I let the patterns and intuitive play guide me into heart spaces of connection. They became me bright colourful stories of connection. They are modern owls that shoe their unique inside stories in pattern colour and layers. These owls find their energy and life in their own unique stories. This is a piece I created a couple of years ago that never felt finished so today I was ready to complete her story. Art has an energy and a way of leading us forward when we are ready. Reminds me of the saying – ‘When the student is ready the teacher will appear.’ Owls teach me about holding the world lightly and not taking things too seriously as they shift from big picture to small details. I do believe we are always students at every stage of our evolving stories – ready to learn, question, explore and grow. There is so much healing and connection in all these questions. An owl feels like the perfect symbol, guide, friend and companion on this creative path. I have always loved questions and as a creative dyslexic this owl perspective of curiosity and pausing into the moment has been a powerful lesson along the way.
