Nervous as H*ck.

Owner-training SD Handlers of Tumblr, I need your advice!

My pup Sadie is a very good/fast learner, but my 3-year-old pet dog Marco tends to interfere when we have training sessions because he wants treats too - depending on what we’re training, it’s okay for him to be beside her and following along. It’s actually kind of cute! But sometimes he plows right through her to get to the treat she earned. 

I want to start taking her out of the house to do one-on-one training soon, but I’m nervous about the idea of doing so. She hasn’t had all her shots yet, so that’s why we’re sticking to just basic training at home for now. I guess the idea of taking her into public makes me a bit anxious.

How did you overcome this/do you have any owner-training tips?

Don’t get me wrong, things are still going great. I guess I’m just nervous to actually dive into task training and public access.

I think we found our boy!

So in that case, I would like to know, other than basic obedience training that he will learn first (as well and being good on a leash), what are some tasks a PSD should be trained in and how do I go about going so?

 I know he will need to be trained to perform DPT and i'm hoping to train him to create an excuse to get me out of a situation (act like he has to go potty) and there are other tasks I know he will need to know. But I want to know from other people who have owner-training their service dog(s) on how to train those specific things needed to help with PTSD and generalized anxiety disorder?

(I also know he needs to be able to tuck under a table or chair when out in public and I’m going to train him to be a border when i’m in a crowd of people or in a store because it causes me a lot of anxiety when I have people close to me.)
