Shoutout to the parents of the kid who saw us in public today, pointed at my vested dog, and announced "THAT! Is a service dog in training!" And DIDN'T try to approach us or distract my dog! THAT is a well-taught and polite child you've got there.

Thanks everyone! We found Winnie a great spot!
PEOPLE WHO FAKE SERVICE DOGS PISS ME OFF SO MUCH. EVEN IF YOUR PET/EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG IS BEHAVING, THEY DONT HAVE PUBLIC ACCESS. THEIR PRESENCE MAY HELP YOU EMOTIONALLY, BUT IF THEY ARENT BEHAVING OR IF THEY ARENT TRAINED TO DO A SPECIFIC TASK, YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW AND PUTTING SERVICE DOGS AT RISK.
"if theyre well behaved, its no different than a service dog" YOU ARE PUTTING UNECISSARY STRESS ON YOUR DOG, PUTTING REAL SERVICE DOG HANDLERS AT RISK, PUTTING ALLERGIC PEOPLE AT RISK, AND CONTAMINATING THE ENVIROMENT YOU ARE IN (like food)
-a future service dog handler/trainer who is a service dog itself
got discharged today from getting abdominal surgery and my service dog in training has been PLEADING me to let her task. alas. she has to wait two weeks
Got called "the best dog I have ever seen" by a store employee today
Guys
My sdit just did his first alert!! He’s very young (13 weeks) so he hasn’t had very much scent training yet. I could tell something was off so I sat down and felt really bad and he came up and started nose-tapping my hands. Like two seconds later my heart palpitations started getting really bad
Service Dog Training with Juno!
Disclaimer: I was in a private study room at the library. I would have been holding her leash if we were not in an enclosed area. Service dogs ARE permitted to have a toy on duty, as long as it doesn’t distract the dog from completing their tasks and doesn’t disturb the general public.
I asked Juno to be focused on me for 5 hours, four of which were spent at the library. The last was at a local farmer’s market.
The one where she is on my leg, I got too far from her and she came to me to go back to work.
