Once I had my masking layer over the text, I selected the image layer, and deleted the areas around the text. Once I had done this  added a black background so then you can see  that the text makes up the image. I really liked this effect. I have created 3 other pieces using this method.

I added the text 'A LOST WEEKEND' across the middle of the image. I then also added the repeating text 'music' across all areas of the image to be masked. I then merged the two text layers together and masked them.

I first imported an image of the Northern Lights. Making sure to keep the same aspect ratio to avoid losing quality.
