This is a pretty nifty way to fundraise for charity. What out-there fundraising methods have you used?

Repost By oxfamaustralia: Meet Mmalebna (pictured here with her daughter Asana*). She is 50 years young and lives in Tambalug, Ghana with her five children. Mmalebna was shown how to make compost and Oxfam gave her tools to make compost to improve her farming. Mmalebna tells us, “What makes me happy is when I go to the farm and I see that my crops are ready for harvest. That makes me happy. The crop I like most is the maize because … I can use the maize to feed my family and I can also sell some to support my family. “I’d like to have a bigger field like the men have, because I’d like to harvest more and be able to take care of my children (school fees and food for children to eat). “I haven’t come out from poverty completely but at least I can solve some problems. …When you are poor, you’re worried about how to pay school fees and basic needs like buying ingredients. “I want to learn more about new techniques of farming and I’ll prepare more compost and use it on my farm. I want to thank you for coming to our community and talk to us.” With your support, we can do more to support women and mothers like Mmalebna to lift themselves out of poverty. *Names have been changed. While on assignment for Oxfam I met Mdu Gamede, a thatcher from the valley of iXopo.
"Communities themselves are often the first responders," says Penny Harrison from OxFamAustralia. What role do you think first responders play in natural disasters? In case you missed yesterday's debate on how effective response is, watch it on demand now, with participants from MSF, OxFamAustralia, and AusAID.
