Leo didn’t feel good. During the fire, he’d been selfish. He’d gotten his sister out and that had been it. Leo had left a roommate, he’d left Lottie — Leo assumed Jamie had left without them. People he cared about had gotten hurt and he hadn’t done anything to save them. He was a fucking coward and there was absolutely no excuse. Sitting on a bench in the park, Leo glared at his phone, trying desperately to beat his game and take his mind off what he hadn’t done.
Leo could smell the burning before he was even awake. When the crackling started, he sat up, staring. There was a fire. In his room. “Fire?” He whispered before scrambling to his feet. “Fire! Fire!” Leo shouted, stumbling over himself as he rushed to his door, shoving it open. “Oh my god.” He gasped as the dean’s voice came over the speaker.
“Fuck off. I’m not in the mood.”
“Let me out of here! Let me out! Let me the fuck out.”
There was something Liana liked about being half-dazed. She liked the spacey feeling that came with being numb, a feeling that she got after chewing the ends of her cigarettes or staring at walls for too long. It usually wasn't an under the influence thing, believe it or not. She'd sit on park benches, not bothered until someone came up to her. Usually, she'd look at them until they took the hint.
"..Did you not read the sign on the door? It says do not disturb." Fighting with Jamie tore her down for days on end; so much so she found herself residing in her dorm. This, was her safe haven. This, was her sole sanctuary against the evils and the pain that resided in the outside world. Piper could spend days, weeks, hiding away from the outside world. "So what are you still doing here?"
"I'm grounded? At school? This is bullshit. How is that even possible?"
