The first day in Seoul was daunting. The people did not understand her and she couldn’t understand them either. She felt trapped in her own self and could not find a way to communicate with other people without making a complete fool of herself. But as days passed, she managed to learn a few words and understand many things about Seoul and the people. Even if she couldn’t speak, observation had brought her a long way.
Walking down the busy street of Seoul, Jia headed towards a pastry shop she made sure to visit often. The pastries were delicious and there was someone she wanted to see, but along the way, Jia spotted a strong light aurora across the street. It was the first she had seen and it would be a lie to say she didn’t want to run up to the person and hug them tightly. It had been to a point where she thought she was the only angel and finding this person was certainly a sign from her Father.
Jia impatiently waited for the light to turn red and the little figure to turn on. It felt like ages and she was happy that the person was standing there and not walking away from her. She watched his posture and the way he was looking around. It was obvious he was lost or looking for someone... maybe she could help?
The figure turned on and Jia was already walking down the street, leaving the others behind. Out of impulse, she smiled as she neared towards him. There was nothing in her mind other than ‘he’s an angel.’ Jia’s happiness could not be explained and once she was standing in front of him, her mind came back and realized the problem. Jia, a woman who does not know the Korean language was standing in front of a Korean man and she did not know how to explain why she was there in the first place.
With an awkward smile, she bowed lightly and mumbled a small “hello” to him. This was the dumbest thing Jia had ever done and there was no going back.
