The last couple of days had been rough, Benjy felt like he was in a daze, everything was chaos, the world was a terrifying place. The one constant was work. As long as the world kept spinning Benjy would keep working, at least now no one could blame him, there was too much work to do, and it had been because they had not done his job properly that people had died. They had all been assured during the briefing that it wasn’t their fault, but everyone at the Auror department, the entire Law Enforcement department felt like it was their fault. And then there were the members of the Order, they had decided to join to be part of something bigger, to save lives, to protect people, and they had failed. But the undeniable truth was that the only ones to blame were the members of Aversio, and their ideals of fighting violence with more violence. Ever since the first attack they had made it clear that they were no better than the Death Eaters, all they left in their wake was pain and death.
Benjy felt the need to check in on everyone he cared, between work and the Order meetings he covered almost everyone. Except he had not seen Gladys at work. It wouldn’t be unusual due to it being the holiday season, but Benjy knew Gladys, she would not miss work during times like these. So when he had been practically ordered to go home and rest, they had all been working non-stop since they received the letter, and he did not want to leave, Benjy had decided to stop by her place. He had picked up some take-out, he would at least have an excuse to show up out of the blue, he knew the last thing Gladys wanted was to have people worrying about her. With the take-out bags on one hand Benjy took the steps leading to her flat two at a time. He knocked softly and announced himself just so she knew it was safe to open the door, ❝Gladys it’s me Benjy. I brought food!❞ he said cheerfully.
