Simon Tommy analysis ok. I do not have big brain capabilities just so you're aware, this is gonna be like a below below average review but anyways.
Right okay. So Simon is a beloved character in the carry on universe and I think on a certain level everyone who's read the books has a certain level of empathy for him and protectiveness. And I think thats bc,,, Simon simply could not catch a fucking break, everyone in his life repeatedly betrayed him and everything that he had thought he'd known about himself,,, he was forced to question and re-evaluate. And then by the end of carry on, the first book, there was this huge weight on his shoulders of greif and guilt and everything in between. Now tommy,,, imo is also going to become the beloved character in pyromancy that everyone on some level connects with, sympathizes with, wants to protect. And i think thats going to happen bc he Is pure at his core. Every pyromancy character has their flaws, they're a little fucked up, they all Do fuck up, and I personally love that bc it's realistic? Makes it easier to sympathize with heroes when sometimes they aren't good and sometimes they're selfish and mean and what not. Getting side tracked sorry, But my point is that at his core Tommy is pure and nothing but pure. He's a good person, he sees nothing but good in everyone around him, he's trusting completely, he's naive, he believes that everything and everyone bad can be fixed and helped and yet. Tradegy follows him anyway. The cards are stacked against him. But still it never deters him or makes him lose faith. That is until the person he held closest, betrayed him in such a way that absolutely shattered every fundemental belief he thought he'd known <3 ANYWAY, I say this bc??? Simon was like that too I think ? He trusted too easily in some sense, he was niave, he wanted to see good in people, specific people definitely anyway, and in the beginning he wasn't deterred, until he suffered a tradegy so severe by the person who was meant to love him, that his ideals and faith in everything was Also shattered <3 plus they both just have this overwhelming burden they carry on their shoulders bc. Whether everyone around them is aware of it or not,,,, they put this pressure on them to be saviors. They're expected to save people, Tommy is expected to help everyone, he's expected to forgive and be happy and be this pure little thing that helps everyone around them and simon was expected to Literally save everyone. And they were both so terrified they wouldn't be able to do fulfill those expectations that they would fail when it mattered most <3 and then theres the whole internalizing their feelings and problems thing that they have going on,,,, Bc of that guilt and that weight on their shoulders <3 they can't allow themselves to need people the way they need them <3 anway,,,,,,, this is so stupid and not thought out at ALL so i apologize <3 will not be signing my name to this in case I sound dumb 💔
sat here in stunned silence right now marry me
