The mention and offer of his veggies and protein bars immediately had Charlie thinking he was uptight or vegan or both. It didn’t matter on a personal level and the judgement internally made wasn’t harsh or negative, just something she had come to know about people that ate that way. The blonde herself ate pretty sensibly but knew how to let loose, and this would be a night were some good comfort food would hit the spot. A smile was offered as she gently shook her head, “No thanks. Not really my style but I won’t be rude about it like you were.” She scrunched her nose a little, a playful expression on her features so he would hopefully get that she was only teasing. No offense had been taken to the way he turned down pizza. Since he was playing, or making attempts to like she was, Charlie wanted to keep it going. There was enough bullshit going on around them to add to it.
“Alright — if that’s your choice,” she replied, holding her hands up briefly. “These come in threes, huh? The bad shit?” Charlie asked with a chuckle, her change of clothes in hand. Since all she was equipped with was her carryon bag, the blonde was limited on what to wear and all that. Not that she had anything with more coverage in her regular luggage since she figured she’d have a room to herself when getting to their destination, but they were adults and anything important would be covered anyhow. “Whatever you wanna watch — I don’t really watch much TV, usually it’s on as background noise I suppose.” Or for whatever Alex was watching whenever they were actually home together these days. After emerging from the bathroom and making herself comfortable on the bed with her magazine, it then dawned on her that while she had filed away her lounging attire as nothing that Jace might not have agreed. So to be polite and maybe ease any discomfort he may have been having, she tucked her lower half under the covers.
“Yep, just one night — I hope.” She missed having her belongings, her clothes and toiletries, and her laptop. It wasn’t that she didn’t have enough in her carryon to get by for a night, it was a comfort thing and having the options she packed. “You don’t sound all that convincing with your s’pose and as can be expected,” she teased, “but I get you. Doesn’t help that Alex hasn’t gotten back to me.” Reaching for her phone on the nightstand, the blonde glanced at it once again, pursed her lips and put it back. “My boyfriend,” Charlie clarified after the pause on whom Alex was, “he’s been super busy lately or something—” Her hand waved it off, thinking he didn’t want to hear about that shit nor should he care. “Well, rest up since you don’t sleep and watch some Kimmel or whatever but if you get stiff in that chair or whatever, feel free to lay yourself on the bed and we’ll switch or something. Or like I said, I’m good with the floor.” She breathed out a sigh and laid back with her eyes closing, eventually turning on her side so she could set her magazine aside. Lengthy sleep wasn’t likely but a couple hour nap would do her just fine.
