night of the hunter | klaus & clara
As another call went straight to voicemail, Klaus believed he was beginning to go insane. Clara had promised to call him at least every two hours, if not earlier, yet it had been much longer than that now. If he hadn't already been in Russia, he couldn't even imagine what he'd be doing back home... Yet the sudden urge to kill anyone that even stepped in his path was strong, but once again, the thought of Clara held his anger in place. In the beginning, Klaus believed that would have made him week, loving someone as much as he loved her; but he was wrong. Loving her made him stronger than he'd ever been before, but when she pulled moves like this, he couldn't help his anger from surfacing.
Running through an unfamiliar forest gave Klaus the distraction he needed. He had promised Clara he would be at home, waiting for her return, but the moment those words left his lips he knew they weren't true. He was on a different plane to Russia the same moment hers took off, and now he was trying to keep himself in check. Barging into the Romanov home wouldn't earn him any points from Clara or Aleksander, and frankly, Klaus had begun to like the Russian hunter. If it was because he wanted to do it for Clara was unknown to him, but he wouldn't question it. Aleksander meant something to his little huntress, so he wouldn't touch him.
His thoughts came to a sudden halt as Klaus heard the familiar noise of a vampire running at full speed, and without thinking twice he was in their path, pinning the vampire against a tree, but that wasn't what had him freezing in fear. With his hand wrapped around her throat, a pair of familiar brown eyes met his own... Eyes that were filled with such hatred it nearly surprised him, until he remembered just why Miranda Donovan despised him so much.
"Ah, Miss Donovan. It's been quite a while." With no response, Miranda was hissing at him as she struggled against his grip, the telltale signs of a weak vampire, and if Klaus knew anything, Miranda was never one to be weak. She was intelligent and strong willed, traits he was sure the vampire got from Clara, but at the moment there was nothing but hatred and hunger. Letting her struggle, Klaus waited with a smirk on his face until she finally gave up, going limp in his hold, showing she'd given up. But her next words struck him hard as a new type of fear coursed through him. "Go get Clara out of there." He could feel his gaze going hard, wanting nothing more than to blame the brunette for not saving Clara, yet with her state he knew she would've ended up getting them killed... But that didn't stop him from snapping her neck and dropping her body to the ground.
"Sorry, love. This will help with the cravings though. Until you wake up, at least. Try not to kill too many people." With that he took off, Clara the only thing running through his mind as he found himself in front of the Romanov household in minutes, stopping himself from barging through the doors as he let his senses take over, listening for any signs that she truly was in danger or if the brunette he had kept away from her had gone delusional.
