The Secret Meeting // Antonia & Harold
A wet dress was never desirable; the mud stained the bottom of the dress and it lost its flair, sticking to the legs of the woman unfortunate enough to be wearing it. Antonia was freezing to the bone when she arrived to the empty house. The house was nothing fancy or conspicuous, its complete lack of grandeur was the reason she had chosen the place. Men with wives and a high position could sneak in without being noticed, this was a clever way to avoid rumours spreading. Rumours had never been good for business as men with high positions held their duty and honour above all, this meant that they would not visit her again if word of their indiscretions got out - she had never liked losing clients.
After entering through the oak door, she went straight to the fireplace and got the fire starting, after a while the heat warmed both the room and her. She went over to one of the drawers in the corner and started setting up candles as it would soon be dark. There was not many places to put the candles; the house only consisted of a room with a bed and a fireplace, a small kitchen and a separate place for toilet arrangements.
Antonia soon decided to get rid of the soaked wet hair piece she had been wearing when the rain hit, she threw it onto a chair and let her curly, blonde hair hang loose. The rain had managed to make it more curly than usual, it was the only positive effect of the rain. She soon decided to lose the wet dress clinging to her. She was undoing the buttons on the front when she heard a short knock on the door, she turned around with her dress half unbuttoned and hair hanging loosely and wildly.
