April hardly ever did anything outside of the hospital. She'd like to believe that was mainly because she didn't have time to do anything besides eat, sleep, and work only to repeat the process all over again the next day. She didn't mind it though, being a doctor was always something she wanted to do and now that she had finally achieved her dream she wouldn't change it for anything. A bit of a social life would be a plus though, so she was pretty excited to get the chance to spend some time with Lexie outside of the hospital. Even though she was completely exhausted.. she needed to relax, and to be honest she just needed a little girl time to let loose and become herself again. Being a doctor take's alot out of a person, it's almost as if you have to flip a switch. You have to be professional, and you have to have a clear mind in order to be able to treat your patient to the best of your abilities. Flipping that switched turns everything off, your emotions included even though that was one of the biggest rules almost every doctor broke, April included. She always did what she could to make her patient's comfortable and making them feel at home was a big part of that. You invest yourself to make sure this person is okay, health wise and emotionally. We have all the tools to fix any fixable injury or wound, but being able to give your patient what they need emotionally and mentally is what makes a good doctor. You can try and try but when a person's time is up, it's just up... making the job ten times harder. That was the part that April couldn't stand. She needed the night away to just deal with the consequences for becoming too emotionally invested in her patient's situation. Lexie coming to the rescue, ofcourse.. and although April was dead tired she still made the effort to go, even taking the time to shower just so she didn't have dried blood in her hair. Mmm, the joyful part of saving lifes. She was later than she thought she would be, but that was only because when she went to pick up the pizza there was a line out to the door. Ofcourse, the one time she ever picked up a pizza herself she got stuck in a line.. but she tried not to let it bother her. Once she was finally at Arizona, and Callie's front door she used her free hand to knock a couple times before throwing her bag over her shoulder, holding the pizza awkwardly in her hands so that it didn't burn her fingertips as she waited for Lexie to open the door.
